Musings

I have been a long-term- though irregular customer of our local SPCK shop for 29 years.

Yes, I was delighted when more Orthodox interest items were introduced, but over a period of months, I read, with increasing disquiet, in the Anglican Church publication "Church Times" of what was happening to SPCK shops nationwide.

I always valued being able to get hold of books right across the mainstream of Christian thought in the UK through SPCK, but it became increasingly insular and parochial. This was even picked up by the Daily Telegraph newspaper in its article here.

A once thriving chain of respected bookshops has been brought to its knees, with many shops closing, and I find that to be so very distressing.

I am using a pseudonym, but I am Orthodox *and* appalled at how a certain Orthodox person whose surname starts with "B" thinks he can behave and treat other people.
